Christmas Sale Interview: Geek Thread

It's day 24 of our Christmas Sale! It's also Thanksgiving for Americans. Between living abroad and celebrating it earlier this week, I hope it's okay that I'm still posting today!

Alright. Who are you?
Ashley Macejk

How would you describe your shop?
My shop is a mix of geeky items, predominantly for women and children as that is a market that I feel has not been fully met by big retailers.

How did you come up with your shop name?
The Geek part was obvious. Since my main mediums are sewing and embroidery, Geeky Thread seemed like a good choice and it has stuck.

You're at Starbucks. What's your go-to order?
Grande Iced Vanilla Chai Tea

Yum! I don't think I've actually tried it with vanilla.
What's your preferred social media for your shop?

Facebook is easiest because I'm horrible with social media. I have twitter and Instagram but rarely use them.

Do you have your shop full time? Or do you do something else too?
I am a full time home ec teacher and mommy.

You're crafting. What do you have playing in the background?
Usually a Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings movie marathon or my movie scores station on Pandora.

I don't think I could survive work without Pandora. Love it! What's your go-to snack to munch on while you work?
I'm a pretzel gal.

What's your favorite geeky product to make?
I love making quilts because they are so much work and so time consuming that the end result always seems more gratifying.

What's your most underrated geeky product that you wish would sell more?
I sell thermal lunch bags that I wish were more popular.

What are you looking forward to the most for your business?
I am hoping to eventually make enough through my shop that I can quit my day job and stay home with my baby and make Geek Thread my full time job.
